Antique Victorian cabinet card of three young ladies by G. W. Wilson & Co. of Aberdeen

Here we have a lovely antique Victorian cabinet card featuring the group family portrait of three wonderful young ladies from the upper-class society. It is a photograph in albumen print by the renowned photographer, G. W. Wilson & Co. of Aberdeen. Circa 1860s-1870s.

I adore how these three ladies have splendidly dressed up and beautifully made their hair - they cared for every single detail. Their facial expressions and gazes are so candid and gracious. I wonder if they were three sisters? Unfortunately, I don't have details on this.

I do like to contemplate the whole composition of the picture itself. Each woman looks in one particular direction: one lady looks at the camera, the second one looks downward (or perhaps at the first lady), and the third one is looking far away. It is visually appealing. ❤️

About the photographer: George Washington Wilson (1823 - 1893) was a pioneering Scottish photographer who started his career as a portrait miniaturist in 1849. He then switched to portrait photography in 1852, setting up a portrait studio at 25 Crown Street in Aberdeen. He was so skilled that he quickly established himself as one of Scotland's premier photographers starting working for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1860. 👏💯
