‘The Sphere: The Empire's Illustrated Weekly', 27th August 1927

Incredibly valuable in my eyes, old newspapers like this one allow me to make discoveries about our ancestors that I can't make with any other records. They offer me a wealth of insight into the history and critical events as they were unfolding at that time. The old photos, the notes, and the way the editors and writers presented the news and the graphic illustrations are a storehouse of precious information. ❤️📰❤️

A brief note about 'The Sphere: The Empire's Illustrated Weekly': Originally named 'The Sphere: An Illustrated Newspaper for the Home', it was a British newspaper containing many photographic illustrations. It was published from 1900 until 1964. It featured general news stories from the UK and around the world, many of which were reported in great detail. The newspaper was very popular during World War II. Both The British Library and the National Library of Scotland have copies of the entire publication. I am grateful to hold this issue from the late 1920s. 🙏🍀
