An early 19th-century hand-colored engraving portrait of Queen Victoria
I am so pleased with my recent finding: An early 19th-century hand-colored engraving portrait of Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria (1819 – 1901) was Queen of the United Kingdom from 1837 until she died in 1901.
This engraving was produced in England around 1840 and features a young Queen Victoria in a full ornate dress with her hair beautifully dressed up. I adore the hand-color touch which makes this a charming decorative piece, with a delightful naive and folk art look applied to an important subject matter. Happily acquired from Portobello Antiques Market 🙏 (I purchased the engraving only without the glass frame that I have added myself and is not antique). ❤️
